In this chapter, we are introduced to the school's assistant headmaster, Mr. Te, and his assistant, Mrs. Ganymede, who are both in love with one another. They are also discussing the fact that Mr. Luu and Mr. Hutao have both been absent from school today. The assistant headmaster tells the girls that he has a bad feeling that they have been caught having an affair with someone outside of the school. He tells them that they will be punished if they continue to dress in school clothes.
