It's been a while since we've heard from the narrator, but he's finally here. He's here to tell us that he was injured in the fight with the bear, and that it's a shame that he hasn't been able to defeat his brother-in-law in a fight in a long, long time. He also tells us that yesterday, while running up the stairs, he sprained his ankle and coughed a little. He doesn't seem to care about what happened to him, though, and has never asked him why he has become so nervous. The narrator also tells her that she's not the only one who's had to deal with this kind of situation, as everyone else in the city has. She also tells the narrator that she was frightened by the bodyguards of Lei-xi, but that she didn't take a rest because she was scared.
