Back at school, the girls are having their hair done by a girl named "Alice" , who is also a model. Alice asks the girls if they would like to go to the girls' locker room to change their clothes before class, and the girls say yes. The girls' lockers are separated from the boys' locker rooms, so the girls don't have to walk to the other side of the school to change clothes. The narrator says that if he hadn't had to go through all of this trouble, he would have gotten "a" between "Yulia" and "Winnie" . But now that he's had to deal with it, he doesn't know which girl he'd like to get along with. He's not sure how to choose between them, he says, and he'll have to wait until the end of the book to make up his mind. He tells the girls that "the more you resist," the more "everyone will be," and the more he resists, the stronger he becomes. He says that "tao zi" is running too fast because she's trying to race with him, and that "she's running so fast" because she wants "to trample on dignity," and that the current girl is "not bad," but that her endurance is "a bit weak" because of her lack of exercise. He also says that he saw "him" hurt his leg in the pass-the-ball incident, which is why "she hurt her leg," and he can't stand it any longer. He promises not to tell "
