In this final scene, Dostoevsky and Sonabyon discuss how they've been bathing in the blue of the ocean. They're not sure if it's because they're in love with each other, or if they just want to be together for the rest of their lives. But they do know that they want each other to live happily ever after. So they head out to find the two men who've run off together. They don't know if they'll be able to catch them or not, but they decide to anyway. They go off to find them, and douse themselves in the "ashen white" that's been burning in the ocean all night.
