The chapter opens with a conversation between Sonezaki and Izumi. Izumi has come to visit and she wants to know what's going on with the literature club. She's worried that they're being snubbed, and she's also worried about her friend, who's away at school. She asks if there's anything she can do about it, and sonezaki says that he's fine with that. He also says that Izumi's not a friend of his, and that he doesn't want to be a part of the club. So he asks where Izumi is. She says that she hasn't heard from him, and he says that his last name is fine. He then asks if he can find Izumi anywhere, and if she has a friend, and then he asks about the club's troubles, and wonders if they've been snubbed. He asks if the club is in any trouble, and Sugawara says that the club looks like it's just finished a soccer game. He wants to go out and give out flyers, but Izumi reminds him that sex drives are separate from the club, so he can't be too worried about that. She tells him that the biggest problem with the club isn't the lack of an advisor, but the fact that they don't even have one. She then asks why he volunteered to be their advisor. He says that it was because he was moved by the way Izumi was talking to him.
