This chapter opens with a conversation between Suluwara and his friend, kazusa, in which the two discuss their feelings for each other. Suluwara tells his friend that he is in love with her, but that he does not want to tell her how he feels. He tells her that he has already checked with her about her feelings for him, and that she has already asked him about his feelings for her. He says that he feels sorry for her, because she asked him the seventh time, and he has not been able to express his love for her since then. He adds that he wants her to tell him how she feels, because he wants to make sure that she does not get hurt by his feelings. He asks her to keep his feelings a secret, but she refuses to do so, saying that she would rather be hurt by someone else's feelings than by her own
