About This Chapter
Hirohito and his father discuss the situation. They are worried that their son, Tomasu, will make another attack on them. They have received a trans-mission, but they have not yet sent it up. They ask their son if anyone can even match his intellectual prowess, and he replies that they will have to see. He tells his father that they have just received a report on his hunt for an experiment. The minister of the federa tells them that they are invading the planet. He asks if they have no memories of him, and they reply that they do. He then asks why they want to hide their memories, and the man replies that he would like to recover his memories first. He says that they should knock on the door of their hiding place, and then he will knock on their father's door. The man says that his spies have told him that tomasu is still on the move, and that he will be able to muster some men by tomorrow. He also says that he assumes that the two men who helped him escape from Tanagamura have joined with him. The two men are not strong enough to fight alone, and so they will be useless. They will not fight, he says, because they are not here to fight. The peace terms are simple, he tells them. The terms are that they surrender 626 as a hostage to them.
