In this chapter, we learn that the battle is lost, and that the shibamas have been driven from their homes. In the meantime, we are introduced to a new character named meison, who has just returned from the war. He has come back to the castle to find out what has happened, and he tells his friends that he has found a way to get back at the enemy. He tells them that the enemy has been driven out of the castle and that they should prepare for battle. He also tells them to prepare for the arrival of the blue-raccoon, whom he calls "the happiest raccoon" .
