In this chapter, we learn that the foot soldier, who goes by the name of "Kogoro," has been promoted to the rank of "spear man" by Miyuki. Miyuki, however, still does not trust him, and so he has enlisted the services of "the top dog" of the group, "the dog of the inner circle" . The two men discuss the situation, and Miyuki suggests that they go for a walk and see what they can find.
