This chapter opens with a flashback to a time when Edmund and Edward were enemies of the old emperor. The flashback shows that Edmund's father, the emperor's son, was the father of a child that was carried by a princess named Katherine. The princess was carrying the child of a prince from the demon tribe. The prince was part of a conspiracy to destroy the tribe, and he was to blame for the deaths of the emperor and Edmund. Edmund is now in danger of losing his younger sister, the queen, if he does not take action against the prince
