The next morning, Oswald is pleased to see that Edgar is doing well. He tells Oswald that the potion that Regan gave him was made with datura-stramonium, which can make people lie. Oswald tells Edgar that he has saved Edgar from the brothel and brought him back. He asks Edgar why he is not in the brothel but on his bed, and Edgar replies that he did nothing to Edgar. He says that he wants to go to Edgar's place, but Edgar says that they lied here in the way that they did. Edgar asks Oswald if he has ever missed him, and Oswald replies that it is okay if he can't remember the memory of the night before. He goes on to say that he is sure that Edgar will look into his eyes, but he has no secrets. He also says that there is no way that Edgar could have mistaken the picture and the name for Edgar, because there are so few people wearing glasses
