When the walker comes to pick up the money, the young man blames himself for everything that has happened. He's just an outsider, he says, and he doesn't belong anywhere in the world. The young man tells the walker that he's been looking for the boy, but he hasn't found him yet. He says he'll go to the capital of the queen's clan to look for him, since it's a dangerous place to send someone.
