In this chapter, we learn that Edmund is the brother of Shu-Liang, and that he is currently living at an inn off the wang-duber street. Edmund tells us that he has come to visit his sister, who is staying with him. He tells her that he knows her name and that she is a student and a great painter. She tells him that her lover is constantly wanting to reunite with her, and she will be happy to do so. Edmund says that his sister is now his lover, and he tells her to watch what she says.
