This chapter opens with a flashback to the previous chapter, in which we learn that the young master of the house has been searching for the whereabouts of the girl, but has been unable to find her. The young master tells us that he has searched all of the rooms in the house but has not been able to find the room where the girl is believed to be hiding. He tells the girl that he will kill her if she does not leave the house.
