In this chapter, Cai Ming tells his brother-in-law that he is unwilling to accept Cai Ming's marriage proposal. He tells Cai Ming that he will leave Cai Ming and his son in his hands if Cai Ming leaves the family. Cai Ming, however, is not willing to part with his son. He says that he has chosen Cai Ming as his successor because Cai Ming has had an "inferiority" by doctors and Cai Ming wants to make sure that Cai Ming does not have any children. He asks Cai Ming to come downstairs and have a private conversation with Cai Ming. He also tells him that he wants to tell Cai Ming the truth about his situation. He promises to tell him something "private" to talk about with him alone
