In this chapter, we learn that the "skeleton cloud fan" is Fang's body, and that Fang is in a drunken stupor. Fang asks the "whoosh" if he can guess what happened to his lover, and the "monster" answers that he did, but that Fang did not have any reaction. The "monster," whoosh says, is the one who can control him like this, and he wants Fang to know that he is the person who has the blood and flesh at the river's edge. Fang wants to know where his lover is, and "the one behind it" wants to take him back to the underworld. Fang says that he will make his life "a living hell" if they don't bring him back, and they can talk when he sobers up.
