The next morning, the two men discuss the events of the previous day. The captain tells the young master that the monster has attacked the ship, and that he must kill it. The young master tells the captain that he has been beaten by the villagers, and the captain tells him that the villagers have tried to befriend the monster, but it has turned out to be a waste of time and money. The two men decide that they must kill the monster.
