In this chapter, the reader is introduced to Desdemona's thoughts and emotions as she contemplates the events that have led her to this point in her life. She is reminded of her mother's death, her father's illness, and her sister's suicide. She realizes that she is doomed to die, and she asks herself if she is her brother or her sister. She asks herself whether she should be killed by her brother, and if so, why. She also asks whether she has been erased from her memory, and whether her memories are connected to the demigod. She concludes that her memories must be connected to him, and that he must have brought her memories back from the dead. She then asks whether he has attempted to create another god, and he responds that he had tried to create a god, but had abandoned his position as a god. She tells him that she wants him to live and that she will create a "new god" for the world
