About This Chapter
In this chapter, the wolf tells the story of the red riding hood and her encounter with the wolf in the forest. He explains that he is afraid of humans because they are afraid of the wolf's fangs. He says that the forest bears only fruit every 500 years, and he doesn't want it to be taken from them by a "gentleman" . He tells the dog to come to the forest and lick the fruit, as the forest is full of fruit. He then tells the girl that she is a "kind and lovely girl" , and that without the fruit she will know that the wolf is not a kind and gentle man one day. The girl, however, dares to visit the forest, and the wolf notices that she has been there for two days. He gives her a fish to eat, and tells her that he will wait another 500 years to eat the fruit. The wolf says that according to the book, he was a dangerous animal, and it was said that he and the hunter had been enemies for hundreds of years. He asks the girl why her ears are so big, and she says that she can hear him clearly. She asks him why his eyes are so large and his hands so big. She tells him that she wants to eat him in one bite, but now that the story is not entirely right, he says that it is not bad, but maybe the wolf would find the sweet fruit if she went deeper into the woods.
