The doctor tells Lockwood that Lockwood will be able to do his job in the future, but that he will have an inflammation in his nostrils that will make it difficult for him to smell or make perfumes. Lockwood says he will give Lockwood some medicine to try and get better. Lockwood is shocked and asks why he cant smell anything. He is unable to taste anything, and his mouth is numb. He hears the doctor say that the throat and the nostrils are connected, and he realizes that he cannot die until he finds out who ordered him to do it.
