The narrator is worried that he has slipped out of the park because he is in love with a woman. He tells his uncle that the man he is with has bought an expensive hairpin for the woman he loves. The narrator tries to convince his uncle to help the man in his love life, but his uncle refuses to listen to him. The two men part ways, and the narrator wonders if he will ever be able to be alone with his beloved.
