The first mission is to find the scent of the "king's" cologne. The smell is so strong that it's hard to tell what's going on, but the narrator assures us that he'll find out in a week's time. The narrator is so excited to find out that the scent is from the king that he can't believe how hard he's worked to get to this point. He's so excited that he tries to get the narrator to talk to him in a friendly way, but he doesn't want to do that. He wants to know what the test problem is, so he asks the narrator if he ever heard the scent, and the narrator admits that he did. He says that the answer probably came to his mind the moment he heard the mission, but that's probably not the best way to answer the question. He reassures the narrator that he has already made all of the preparations for the mission and that the only thing that needs to be done is to take what he is given.
