In this short scene, we are introduced to a young man who is described as a "vampire" . We are told that the young man looks like a vampire, with a "pale skin, sharp nose, straight mouth, chiseled and defined" jaw, and a "distincted and defined jaw" , and we are also told that he is "as cold as ice" and that he looks "like a vampire" because of his blood. The young man, who is called Nestor, asks the vampire why he is staring at him, and the vampire responds by saying that he has caught a cold, and he can smell the "sign of a cold" from Nestor. Nestor, who has been raised as an orphan by his mother, is angry that the vampire has stolen money from him. He tells the vampire that the evidence is "conclusive," and he is upset that the boy has stolen his money. Nestor's mother is furious, and she tells the boy that he will be "done" if he dares to tell his mom. She also tells him that his son is still young, and that such things "will never happen again" in the future
