The chapter opens with a flashback to the beginning of the previous chapter, in which we learn that Linda is in the middle of a conversation with Sebastian, and Sebastian is trying to figure out what is going on. The flashback reveals that Sebastian has been eavesdropping on Linda's conversation, and that Sebastian is eavesdropping on the conversation between Sebastian and Linda. Sebastian tries to get Sebastian to leave the room, but Sebastian refuses, saying that he will not leave until he is certain that Linda has left the room.
