In this chapter, the narrator tells us that he's been thinking a lot about the upcoming wedding. He's also been thinking about his girlfriend, who's a first-year student named Niono . Niono is pretending to be a "taxidermid" , which is basically a high school student who rides his friend's shoulder like a cab. The narrator says that if Niono tries anything weird, he'll slap him. He doesn't think it's going to happen, though, because he thinks he might like "zombies" . He wants to know what Niono's plan is. He asks someone to give him some body spray, but he can't understand why Niono would want to push him out of the room. He wonders if he should try to push Niono out of his way for a change of scene. He also wonders if it was really Niono who said he was going to "push" him out, and he wonders if that's what he really meant. He decides that he wants to stay with Niono for a little longer, so he asks if he and Niono are really dating now. He says that it isn't a big deal, but that he has something for Niono on his birthday, which he forgot about. He notices a rose note in the bird's mouth, which makes him think that Niono and his girlfriend are in love. He tells himself that if he had his way, he would ask Niono to keep giving him "headpats" all day long, and that he wouldn't have a chance
