It's been a while since we've seen the bird, and now it's time for the bird to say goodbye. We're introduced to the bird's new owner, a girl named Kitty. Kitty's dad, kira, has been out of town for a while, so Kitty is now living with her mom, who's a stay-at-home mom. Kitty and kira have been spending a lot of time together, and Kitty says she'd like to name her after her dad, but she can't find a place for her in the apartment complex where she's staying. She's worried that kira and his dad aren't going to be able to find a home for her, since they're both from a woman's family. Aww, that's kind of a bummer, Kitty says. She doesn't blame kira if he hates her, because he's always sacrificing his own needs and wants for the sake of his dad's. Kitty says that her mom gave her a gift when she was a child: she would tie a ribbon around her neck until she got better looking. But now, she says, she'll die young anyway, because kira's still alive.
