About This Chapter
In this short scene, Roxane laments the fact that she has not had much time to prepare for the next day's performance of her play. She laments that she is a naive girl who does not know what she is doing, and that she will not be able to perform her part in the play because she does not have much time. She tells Roxane that she cannot be ashamed of herself because she is trying to be creative. She says that if she succeeds in her promotion, she will be the laughingstock of the play, and if she fails, then she will become a rich man. Roxane is glad to see that the play has gone off without a hitch. She thanks Roxane for saving her from falling, and says that she was surprised that he could laugh so easily because he has a "cute side" too. She also says that even though he is scary, he is actually a good man.
