About This Chapter
In this short scene, the audience is introduced to a young man who has just returned from a day of art and storytelling with his brother. The young man, who is called King, is a bit of a mystery to the audience, as he has no idea where he is or what he is doing. He is confused by the events that have taken place in the house, and he wonders if they are connected to the paintings in the attic. He wonders if the painting is a portal to the wizard's house, or if it is simply a way for the young man to escape the engagement with his sister. He also wonders if there is a hint in the painting to send the young woman back to her "real" world. He asks his brother to follow him to the attic, but his brother refuses to do so, saying that he is trying to find his own way. He then wonders why his sister is leaving, and wonders if she is leaving to escape her engagement with King. He tells his brother that he can find his way back to his own world, and the two of them decide to try and get him back home.
