Mr. Long shows Mrs. Guinevere a picture of the keepsake left by her parents. He tells her that she should have one of the other two. He also tests her dna to see if she is related to him. He says that if he had found her earlier, she would not have suffered as much in the family. He asks her to tell him about her past, but she says that she does not want to know because she has strong self esteem. She also says that the engagement between her and the family is useless because her last name now is su, so the marriage is useless. She is relieved to have him in her hands, but still wishes that he could let them meet her. She tells him that when she was younger, her family threatened her to marry a son of the family of which she was a member. She says that when he was younger she ran away from her home to fight against the forces of feudalism.
