This chapter opens with Beiyi's declaration that he has taken extra precautions to ensure that he will not die if he falls from the top of the tower. Beiyi asks the officer to let him go, but the officer refuses to listen to him. He tells Beiyi to undo the watch or someone will be injured. The officer says that if he takes off the watch, there will be no one able to keep Beiyi under control, and Beiyi says that he just needs someone who will never betray him.
