In this chapter, we are introduced to the King and Queen, who have not seen each other for a year. The King tells the Queen that he has come back to prove to her that he is worthy of her love. He asks her why she did not welcome him to her port when he went on a night cruise with her. He also asks her if she thinks that everything she has done for the King has been right. She replies that she thinks it was a good idea. He tells her that she and the King are the same person, and that she should not turn around.
