About This Chapter
In order to "touch that stigma" , he says, he needs to surround himself with "this energy" . He wants to know why kids defy adults , why they choose to defy guidance and force , and why they don't just "swoop" like adults. He says that he used to be like them when he was a student, but now that he's taken him in, his life is full of hardships. He tells us that when he told him that he wanted to walk a path he once walked, he felt happy and relieved. It meant that he could help him avoid the path that he was familiar with, and so he tried his best to avoid it. He never once thought that his efforts would be "misguided," he says. He doesn't think he was ever as good at ice-hockey as he thought he was. He wanted to give him the world, but that desire turned into greed, and he ended up hurting him, the person he loved the most. He asks where they're going, and what the hell's going on.
