About This Chapter
In this short scene, the protagonist explains that he has gotten rid of the "reservoirs" attached to his zither because he was bullied at school by his master's pupil, who is now his friend. The protagonist says that he was so happy when they were younger, and that there was nothing he could ever want for his life. After that, he was unable to do anything with his bracelet because he felt an unbearable pain. He apologizes for making the protagonist recall such a painful shiver, but says that it is still hard for him to talk about it. He tells the protagonist that the reapers are coming toward them. He says that if the protagonist can't control her emotions, she will be vulnerable to them. She will eventually begin to feel her true power, and she will feel the power within her. He asks if he feels better now that he is with her, and the protagonist says yes, he feels calm when he's with her for some reason. He explains that the first time she got angry at him was when he quit playing the chess game. She asked him what he meant by quitting, and he told her that they were on different paths, and they thought nothing would change. He sometimes thinks that she is still mad at him because he suddenly quit, even though they're different paths now. He clenches it makes him think he is the only one who still feels the same way.
