About This Chapter
It's been a while since we've seen the two of them, but the narrator tells us that it was only yesterday that he was surprised by how warm the two men's skin was. He says that he's too embarrassed to act around his father anymore, and that he doesn't want to run away from him. He asks if she's going to go to school, and she says that she'll be back soon. The narrator asks if it's okay if she looks at her father's face, and he says that it makes her feel strophobic. He tells her that he has feelings for her and thinks of her as a family. He wishes he could express them by touching her, kissing her, and holding hands. She says that's what she wants to do, but she can't think of a way to express it. She tells him that she wants them to stay friends, because if they just stayed friends, they'd probably lose each other, and it would be decided. She wants to keep moving toward their next step, she says, and wants to be with her father forever. He agrees, and they're going to be together for the rest of their lives.
