The chapter opens with Hiroyuki's declaration that he's going to the zoo with his friend, Reita. He's so excited that his mom gave him 10,000 yen to spend while they're out. Reita, however, isn't so excited. She tells Hiroyuki not to worry about his feelings for her, because she doesn't really care about her feelings for anyone else. Hiroyuki tells her that his dad is having an affair with another woman, and she's shocked because her parents divorced when she was a teenager. She's sure she'll never be able to have a relationship with someone like that.
