In the meantime, sukeroku is back at work. He apologizes to Sekitei that he didn't stay to finish the job he started, but he's fine with the fact that the whole building went up in a flash. He's not sure what the future holds for him and rakugo, though, since they're both in poor health. Reluctantly, he agrees to take on the job as his apprentice.
