This chapter's epigraph is from a notebook that Wios found in a house. The notebook is full of notes on rakugo, and Wios confesses that he's fallen in love with the master of zakugo. He compares himself to the master, and says that the more he listens to him, the better he feels for him. Wios says that he doesn't practice enough , and that his master is a little different from him. He says that if the master hears that he knew him in the past, he will be able to get revenge on Wios. He tells Wios that he poisoned him, and asks him to stay where he is, so that he won't have to leave. When Wios tells him that the recital has been ruined, Wios begs him to give him some dry clothes. He asks if he can squeeze something out of her, and she says that she can't, because she's afraid that if they fail, they'll both die
