The narrator tells us that he's been having chest pains lately, so he went to see the doctor and he told him to rest and relax. They're coming, he says, and they're going to pay the bill. He's worried about the bill, but he doesn't want to tell his boss about it. He wants to know what's happened to the sukeroku, and he wants the narrator to tell him about the money he got from the hospital. The narrator says he hasn't heard anything yet, but it sounds like the recital has been canceled.
