Back in the present, the narrator tells us that he's heard a lot about the upcoming film. He's also heard that it's going to be about a famous rakugo performer named Kikuhiko, who's been living in Tochigi for a long time. The narrator is psyched to see this guy. He used to hang out with his mother's sister, who used to work as a maid for the Kachi family. When he was a kid, the two of them used to eat together at a restaurant called the Soba. Kachi's name is Yoji, and the narrator's mother used to be Yoji's aunt. When Yoji was a little girl, she used to come over to the soba and eat at the table with the other Kachi sisters. She used to talk about how wonderful it was to be a Kachi sister. When the narrator was a teenager, he convinced his parents to take him to visit Kachi so that he could meet the famous Kachi. The Kachis were so happy to see him that the narrator convinced himself that he would be a good apprentice to Kachi after all. Yoji and his parents are hanging out at the shrine to Inari-sama, where Yoji has been invited to pray. He says he'll be back soon.
