When the scene opens, the narrator tells us that he didn't expect that Kuga would participate in the party. He says that he's surprised because Kuga isn't friendly, and that he would have stayed home. The narrator asks if there's anyone in the crowd that's interested in seeing Kuga, and the crowd says no, but then the narrator realizes that it's his older brother, Soji, who's there. He asks if they're dating, and Soji says that they've been talking a lot lately, and he'd like to go for a walk with her. Soji tells the narrator to go ahead and take a break, but the narrator says that she's taking a break too, so she'll go with him.
