In this chapter, we learn that Shmoop was once a member of the Ku Klux Klan, but he has since changed his name to Roxane. He is now a lawyer, and he has become romantically involved with Roxane's sister, who is also a lawyer. When Roxane asks him why he is so interested in her, he tells her that he is "obsessed with sex" and that he wants her to have sex with him. Roxane, however, does not believe him, and she tells him that she does not want to be a part of his life.
