In this short scene, Linghua tries to convince his master not to dislike him. He tells him to be more careful when he climbs up and down, and to take two flowers with him, the "bone of iron wind" , which can cure all kinds of diseases. He also tells her not to trust anyone, and not to act like an auntie. He then tells her that he is going to the famine-stricken town of Laurys because he has heard that there is an epidemic there. He asks his grandfather if there is a way to get to the town.
