In this chapter, the demon tries to convince his master that the village has indeed disappeared. He explains that he has lived in the village for many years, and he knows better than anyone else whether the village is real or not. If the village does indeed disappear, he will immediately leave the next day. He also tells the master that if he has the jade pendant, the people at the Fort will treat him as a guest.
