In this chapter, the narrator tells us that she's going to her college reunion and that she wants to meet her old friends. She's not sure who they are, but she does know that they all know her from her time at the university. The narrator tells the audience that she has a crush on her ex-boyfriend, and that he used to visit her in her dorm room every night. One night, he came to her door and asked her to have a drink with him. He found out that she had a boyfriend, and he tried to console her by saying that they were apart for a long time, but that she was a more difficult person than he was. She says that she never thought that he would secretly follow her around the world and cry because of her. She doesn't feel guilty about it, and she tells the narrator that she didn't write anything in her diary about her boyfriend. She goes on to say that she went to her mom's house to make dumplings during a holiday, and when she returned, she found that her diary entry had an annotation saying that she picked up a cat named "Monroe" . She wonders if her boyfriend will freeze during the cold winter, and then she wonders if he'll freeze at school, too. She also tells the story of her fight with her husband, and how she called the captain of the dorm and got 10 minutes of laughter on the phone.
