In this chapter, the narrator explains that he wants to record his life with his dog, F. He notes that F is "obstinate and neat freak" . He asks F why he is touching his dog and how he came to bring his own. F tells him that people always bring their own plates and silverware when they go out for picnics. The narrator tells F that it is time for them to save money. He calculates their monthly expenses and finds that they are spending more than they make. F says that they have to eat more vegetables and that they need to buy more sanitary napkins. He tells the narrator that he has already spent his budget for the month and that he will take a bath first.
