About This Chapter
The narrator and the other telefriends are inside a floating palace, waiting for the ninth to arrive. The narrator wants to know if anyone has any news of the incal. He's got two hundred pounds on his chest, and he wants to see if the narrator's "supreme highness" will take care of him. He wants to make sure that the narrator doesn't tell anyone that he's in possession of anything. He also wants to find out if the ship is flying on auto pilot. He says that the pilot has a surprise waiting for him, and the police are going to have to take charge of the search. He feels like he has something inside of him that answers all of his questions. It's a little light bulb, but it's still a little dimmer than it used to be. And yet, he says, he still feels like the answers are inside the light bulb. He has nothing at all to do with the police, the hunchbacks, or the mutants in the ventilation shaft. He just wants to be left alone.
