About This Chapter
In Cal 3, the monster realizes that the incal has abandoned him. He realizes that he is near the end of the ship, and that they are going to crash into the garbage plains. He is horrified by the sight of the garbage and realizes that it is a rat, a wolf, and a wolf-like creature. He fears that the rats have stopped growing and are retreating. Animah tells him that the more he fears, the more the rats grow and multiply. She tells him to open his eyes and see the rats as psychorats. He tells her that if she can control the rats, then she can call them off. She urges him to stop growling at wolves and dogs and to stop being afraid of his mother. She says that she will kill him with her bare hands if he does not leave her. The incal tells the monster that he will not be able to escape unless there is a place where he can find the three rats. The three rats will carry them across the plains to the heart of the earth.
