The next morning, Dr. Livesey and Dr. Lindell go for a walk. They come upon a dish of "barbecuie" , a local delicacy. The doctor is impressed by the dish, which he describes as "better than the food of the imperial kitchen" . He tells Lindell that he used to have dinner parties with his friends back home, but that he has not had a good meal in a long time.
