This chapter opens with a conversation between Lan Ge and the East Palace Princess. Lan Ge tells the princess that he has been promoted to the position of chief doctor of Jinling city. The princess asks Lan Ge if he can cure an old maid who is ill and wants Lan Ge to help her. The old maid is suffering from asthma and Lan Ge says that he will help her if she is cured. The prince tells Lan Ge that he knows Lan Ge will be careful in the palace since he is a member of the royal family.
