The narrator laments that he and his friends will have to stay indoors during the winter because of the Zika epidemic. He laments the fact that his grandparents died from the disease, and he laments how his friends have gotten married because they can't afford to pay for a hospital. He wonders why they even got married in the first place. The narrator notes that the health care system in Tokyo is going to collapse because there are no beds for people with weakened immune systems. He predicts that even if the system collapses, the strong will still survive in the New World.
